All of our volunteer shifts have been cancelled due to COVID-19 until further notice.
With the current public health risks of COVID-19, we want to follow the Public Health Agency of Canada, B.C. Centre for Disease Control, and Vancouver Coastal Health guidelines and recommendations by suspending volunteer participation monitoring program until further notice. The guidelines recommend minimizing close contact with others during the peak of an outbreak through social distancing. The health of our community is our top priority, therefore we don't want to risk the health of volunteers.
We strongly feel that you shouldn't have to choose between public health advice and your commitment to collecting water quality data.
At the same time, we don't want to abandon any recreational water users who are quelling their anxieties out on the water, so our staff will still collect environmental data to ensure that we are doing our part in sharing data and working to protect public health.
