Join Alicia, our Community Science Coordinator, as she collects water samples and environmental observations at thirteen sites along our route from Olympic Village to Vanier Park.
Time: 10:30am-2:30pm
Place: We will meet in front of the Creekside Community Recreation Centre, located at 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver, V5Y 0B1.
Modes of Transportation: We will bike from Olympic Village to Brokers' Bay (you can bring your own bike, or use the Shaw Go Mobi bike share service with expenses paid for by Fraser Riverkeeper). We will then walk to and from the remaining sample locations.
You will need:
- Weather appropriate clothing
- Waterproof, grippy footwear is great for navigating potentially wet, slippery docks. We recommend a pair of insulated gloves or hand warmers during cold temperatures. An important task of water sampling is to fill out environmental surveys, you will need warm hands to write clearly.
- Comfortable footwear, as we will walk between most sites.
- A snack and water bottle
- Sunscreen
- A face mask, as pertains to COVID-19 safety protocols.
