This volunteer shift has already taken place.

Join Alicia, our Community Science Coordinator, as she collects water samples and environmental observations at thirteen sites along our route from Olympic Village to Vanier Park.

Time: 10:30am - 2:30pm

Place: We will meet in front of the Creekside Community Recreation Centre, located at 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver, V5Y 0B1.

Modes of Transportation: We will bike from Olympic Village to Brokers' Bay (you can bring your own bike, or use the Shaw Go Mobi bike share service with expenses paid for by Swim Drink Fish). We will then walk to and from the remaining sample locations.

You will need:

  • Weather appropriate clothing
    • Waterproof, grippy footwear is great for navigating potentially wet, slippery docks. We recommend raincoats, rain pants, and gloves (on cold days). Hats and sunglasses are a must have during the summer.
  • Comfortable footwear, as we will walk between most sites.
  • A change of clothes/shoes for rainy days
  • A snack and water bottle
  • Sunscreen
