Are you passionate about plastic cleanup? Do you enjoy sorting items? If this sounds like your kind of party, register for one of Fraser Riverkeeper’s waste characterization sessions.
Join Alicia, our Community Science Coordinator, as she empties our Granville Island seabins, rummages through their contents, and records notable observations. Expect to handle lots of wet discarded trash and plastics. Be prepared for a messy, yet rewarding experience.
Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Place: We will meet at the Vancouver Water Monitoring Hub, located at 1806 Maritime Mews, Vancouver, V6H 3X2.
You will need:
- Clothes that can get wet and muddy
- Weather appropriate clothing
- Waterproof, grippy footwear is optimal for navigating potentially wet, slippery docks. We recommend raincoats, rain pants, and gloves (on cold days). Hats and sunglasses are a must have during the summer.
- A snack and water bottle
- Sunscreen
