It's important to know how to properly report illegal dumping and other forms of pollution to the proper authorities. People in BC who witness pollution taking place are encouraged to contact the conservation officer's service using their 24-hour Report All Poachers and Polluters hotline at 1-877-952-RAPP(7277) or by using the online reporting form.
Remember to take careful note of:
- date, time, and location of the incident
- physical description of the dumper/polluter
- description of any vehicles involved
- vehicle tags if visible
Photos are extremely helpful in identifying the parties responsible if you are able to catch them in the act, but please remember to stay safe and avoid confronting suspected dumpers/polluters!
BC Wildlife Federation Conservation App
Available to iPhone users, this app makes it easy for users to take geo-referenced, time-stamped photos or videos and to report issues related to environmental violations and the illegal use, or abuse, of BC natural resources. The app works both in and out of service, using your phone’s GPS. Reports are sent to a secure server and then forwarded automatically to the appropriate enforcement agency.
